“Twice the heart of a member of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, who does not see the need to mention his name, melted as he imagined the hardship forced on the poor masses by the Corona Virus and the lockdown order of various governments and their agencies, and he decided to spend huge funds in providing palliatives for distribution to vulnerable citizens in Asokoro District and its environs”, says a beneficiary of the humanitarian gesture known as Mr. Innocent Ogamune, in a chat with AFRICA SECURITY INVESTIGATION correspondents recently.

According to Ogamune, the philanthropist bought large quantities of assorted food and health materials and distributed to everyone that came to the venue as his contributions towards checking the spread of COVID-19 and its induced biting hunger.

The lucky man said some serious lessons have been learnt from the donor’s approach to life, especially his love for all mortals and understanding that this world is a temporary abode for all creatures and his view that primitive accumulation is not God’s prescription for humanity.

The beneficiary also disclosed that the donor is a bundle of humility, and hates discrimination and things being done based on ethnicity with raw passion. “The majority of the beneficiaries were Muslims and from the Northern states of Nigeria. Ogamune while speaking further, said the RCCG member has an heart of gold in the sense that when he received complaints that some underprivileged people were yet to get the relief materials and those vulnerable citizens we’re suffering more from hunger fondly called COVID-20 than Covid-19, he was led to sponsor the second phase of distribution of palliatives, within a few days after the first exercise.

Ogamune, who is an artisan, said hunger would have finished him and his family, if not for the kindness of the humanist since his survival is tied to daily labour and the lockdown has emptied his purse for weeks. Vulnerable residents of Asokoro can never forget the bailout gesture of this patriotic figure who cares for the welfare and survival of the masses in the society in their lifetime.
