NGO Fetes Widows in Honour of PM of Bangladesh, American Legislator

It was indeed a joyous day for vulnerable widows in the Federal Capital Territory as an active non-governmental organisation (NGO) called The Mighty One Empowerment Foundation (TEMOEFA) organised the 2020 International Widows’ Day Celebrations to encourage these neglected and unfortunate women on June 23 at TEMOEFA Centre in Dutse-Alhaji, Abuja.

Speaking at the event, the founder of TEMOEFA, Dr. Barika Dominic Saro-Laka, JP, said his NGO decided to mark this special day for widows all over the world so as to prove to them that the society has not forgotten about them.

He noted the extra-ordinary love and concern that Her Excellency, Sheikh Hasina who is the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh have for them, adding that the leader of Bangladesh wishes Nigerian widows well in all their activities.

According to Dr. Saro- Laka, the Prime Minister has assured widows all over the world of her resolve to remain an advocate and strong voice for campaigning for respect for the rights and welfare of vulnerable women wherever they are, irrespective of their culture, religion, colour, or gender.

Continuing, TEMOEFA’s boss, said the event was also sponsored in honour of a strong activist and American lawmaker, Honourable Ilhan Omar who has always fight for gender participation in all levels of government’s schemes, leadership and governance.

Special prayers sessions were rendered by Hajiya Zainab Akinola for the continuing success, health and strength of Sheikh Hasina and the entire good people of Bangladesh as well as for Hon. Ilhan Omar and Pastor Joseph Ebiware owing to their support for the development and survival of widows across the globe.

The women were intensively drilled on how to avoid contracting the COVID-19 pandemic by Mr. Samson S. Kworiya.

In an appreciation speech on behalf of the benefiting widows, Mary Anemo Ekankang, thanked the NGO and the two dynamic amazons in whose honour they received gifts as well as Pastor Joseph Ebiware based in Yenagoa for bringing smiles and hopes to them and prayed God to sustain Shelkh Hasina and the president of TEMOEFA, Mrs. Joy Ihuoma Inimgba for always caring for widows.

Food items, hand sanitizers, facemasks, cash and other items were presented to all thewindowss at the event.
