The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), EO Okeh has urged Nigerian Youths to take the bull by the horn pointing out that the time is reaped for the youths to take over the security challenges upon themselves else it becomes an uncontrollable eye-stab in the nearest future.

The well knowledgeable and prowls NSCDC Public Relations Officer who made the statement yesterday at his office while receiving the Coalition of the Nigerian Youth on Security Affairs, CONYSA, elucidated to a large extent what Nigerian Youths challenges are. He explained that the youths in the country are yet to identify themselves on the role they are capable of playing in nation-building.

While speaking further, he also pointed out that the Nigerian Youths lack coordination, and clouded with the get rich early syndrome.

Officer Okeh who at a time corned an acronym, “IBO”, explained that the acronym means “I, Before Others”, is one other great modus vivendi that the Nigerian Youths should pull out themselves from, stating that it has done more havocked than good within the macrocosm of the Nigerian Youths, adding that the youths need conscience certification in all dealings.

Retiring to the body, Mr. EO Okeh commended the Coalition of the Nigerian Youths on Security Affairs, CONYSA, for the brave initiative and pledged total support in all activities and programs of the body.

However, he advised them to engage in influential activities and programs within her scope of incumbent not undermining the role of media so as to draw a rapped attention of the government.

He as well charged the delegation to make the drive of the body the goal, disclosing that the task ahead is extremely difficult.

Expressing optimism on the project, Coalition of Nigerian Youth on Security Affairs, CONYSA, he prayed them that they are youths of integrity else the body might not see the light of the day, as he called for truthfulness, fear of God amongst team members.

Earlier, the National Coordinator of the youth body on security, Amb. Ade Mario Emmanuel who applauded the Civil Defence Corps for their landmark achievements within the few years of existence expressed delight over the warmth reception offered him and the entire delegation.

Speaking on the purpose of visit, Amb. Mario disclosed that the Coalition of Nigerian Youth on Security Affairs is a robust and pragmatic Interventionist Initiative of Young Leaders from various organizational backgrounds, majorly Para-Military Youth Bodies, mandated by the umbrella bodies of the Youth and Students of the Nation, cutting across all the States and Local Government Areas of the Federation, with firm resolve to mobilizing massive support and encouraging maximum cooperation for the Nations Security Agencies from the Youth, for radical improvement of the Security Record of the Country, while contributing remarkably to curbing of the escalating Security Challenges Nationwide.

Disclosing further, the body is in existence to build a complementary and effective Youth Structure to collaborate and cooperate with the Security Outfits of Nigeria to combat the rising Security Challenges across the Country, resulting in improved security of lives and properties in all Communities of the Nation. Pointing out that it would sensitize the Nigerian Youth to own up Security as Constituency responsibility, while bridging the relationship gap between the Youth and Security Agencies in the Country, and developing a viable Feedback Mechanism, fostering enhanced flow of information with mutual trust, guaranteeing safety of both Informants and Security Personnel.

“The body also had set up proactive Independent Youth Security Situation Rooms (IYSSR) or Cells in the 774 Local Government Areas and security Red-spot Communities in Nigeria with a Central Coordinating Unit, to promptly report crimes and all activities capable of leading to breakdown of Law and Order in Society, thus reducing the level of Insecurity in the Federation to the barest minimum within the current decade”, Mario added.

The vote of thanks by Mr. Abraham Akwafgan thanked the PRO for his time and support for the body urging him to be available in the next of her programs.
