The youth wing of Africa Democratic Congress, ADC, held her April edition of Youths Hangout in Abuja on the 23rd April 2021, with the theme, “Political Prostitution and Demeaning Culture of Corruption in Nigeria”.

Speaking at the event, the guest speaker, Hon. Umar Rais disclosed that the reasons for political prostitution are negligence of some party members by their political parties and greed on the part of some part members.

Hon. Rais explained that funding is a critical aspect that has limited youth’s successes in the political space. He said that the media needs to support youths in this regard.

He expatriates how bigger parties lure members of other parties with luxury items and money.

The moderator who is also the National Youth Leader of ADC, Barr. Maurice Ebam, said that if Nigeria gets it right, Africa will get it right. He made a revelation that ADC has 50 million youths. In his words, “power is not given but taken and in the next 3 years, the big political parties would fade away”.

Barr. Ebam further said that when only one man is allowed to finance the activities of a political party, the tendency of him hijacking the party is high.

On the issue of youths in the current leadership, Barr. Ebam beards his mind that the current youths in positions have failed but that does not underscore the ingenuity of the larger population of young people.

He posed that ADC believes in galvanising the wisdom of the elderly and the strength of the youths in actualising the part’s vision for Nigeria.

The Director of Communication and Programs, Barr. Ifenla Oligbinde, shed light on the programs of the ADC youth wing, explaining how ADC intends to launch a Back-to-School campaign and School-to-School program across Nigerian schools in other to reorient the minds of the younger generation of the country.

The event had many participants both physically and virtually.
