As Nigerians look forward to this day, the commemoration of her democracy on June 12, the need for divine intervention in the affairs of the nation has been echoed.

This was the bane of the Interfaith Prayer and Press Conference organized by the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in collaboration with the Nigerian Youths and Women Organisation in Abuja.

The National Chairman of ADC, Chief Ralphs Nwosu, whose birthday coincidentally falls on the same day of the press briefing, hinged the lack of foreign investors in Nigeria on insecurity in the country.

He lamented the increase in crime rate ranging from kidnapping, banditry, and bloodshed across the country which has also caused an increase in unemployment for the youths and graduates.

The National Chairman blamed the challenges faced by the nation on what he called “elites hypocrisy”.

“We are playing myopic politics. Some countries that are permanent members of the UN do not have the population Nigeria is blessed with. We get diverted by little home challenges and forget the role the country is supposed to be playing in the world. That is why we decided to give this country back to God” Chief Ralphs Nwosu said.

Hon Vincent Anthony Ubani who spoke on behalf of the entire Youths of Nigeria called for peace and unity in the country. He reassured the commitment of all Nigerian Youths to take up all strategic leadership positions all over the country.

The National Supervisor for mothers and ladies wing, Joy Bakare, admonished parents to pray for a better Nigeria.

A Christian clergy, Pastor Funsho Ibitoye, prayed that the country should experience good governance and empathetic leadership that will show empathy for the citizens and provides lasting solutions to the problem of insecurity across the country.

Also, an Islamic cleric , Imam Haruna Idris, prayed for the peace of the country and that the killings across the country be brought to a halt.
