Gulf United FC, Dubai UAE’s delegates arrive Abuja today 4th August 2021 to give scholarship to Nigerian youths who are good academically and at the same time has a good level in football as it partners Committee of Youth on Mobilisation and Sensitization (CYMS).

The ongoing scholarship exercise in Nigeria which is the first of its kind in Africa tagged ” Study and play football scholarship empowerment program” would in no small measure encourage Nigerian youths and help in inculcating hope for a better future.

The Gulf delegation arrived at Azikiwe International Airport in the early hours of today having a nice time with a team of CYMS-Nigeria delegation led by Obinna Nwaka, the Director-General, Committee of Youth on Mobilisation and Sensitization (CYMS)

The Gulf United FC, Dubai UAE delegation led by a Nigerian, Anyanwu Marcellinus, Head Scout, and Consultant of Gulf United Nigeria Showcase while inspecting the facilities for the commencement of the auditioning stated that applications for the scholarship were made public since April this year and over five thousand applications were received knowing fully well that his organization intends to take a total of one hundred and twenty people as beneficiaries.

While speaking further, he noted that the audition exercise will commence in Abuja on Thursday, 6th to 9th August 2021 at Area 3 open field as that of Lagos will commence from 13th to 16th August 2021.

Dordi Shiels, Director, Gulf United FC, who spoke with a cluster of journalists in Abuja while inspecting the facilities for the auditioning said he is happy with the reception given him by Nigerians already and pointed out that Nigerians are indeed good people.

“We would be taking the best sixty here in Abuja and best sixty in Lagos, making it a total of one hundred and twenty for the scholarship to Canada, US, and other parts of the country”, he added.

Obinna Nwaka, the Director-General, CYMS in an exclusive interview with journalists, expressed delight in making the scholarship a dream come through under his leadership.
” Facilitating such a huge opportunity into Nigeria for Nigerian youths wasn’t easy at all. But, I was mind made up that since I wasn’t privileged to get such an opportunity, the younger ones should. That was my propelling force and thank God it is a reality today”, he said.

As a Pro Government organisation, apart from promoting the policies, program and activities of the Federal government, part of its mandate is to promote peaceful coexistence and Facilitation of youth empowerment.

Congratulating the potential beneficiaries, he urged them to be very diligent and hardworking while there, by doing that he said would make Nigerians, CYMS, and Gulf proud, which in turn would pave more opportunities for other Nigerian youths
“Congratulations to you all in advance”, he added.
