A popular Nollywood actor, Mr. Francis Duru has been showered with encomium by Mr. Obinna Nwaka, the Director-General, Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitisation (CYMS) on his recent Chieftaincy title conferment on the occasion to mark the 2021 Nollywood New Yam Festival held in Abuja on Saturday 30th October 2021.

Chief Francis Duru who was conferred with the title “Afunwa Elota Nna 1 of Nollywood” in recognition of his support to the growth and development of the Nollywood was also graced by personalities from different works of life such as Dr. Fahad Obaid Al Taffaq; the UAE to Nigeria, Dr. Kenneth Okonkwo; a famous Nollywood actor and BOT Member of Nollywood New Yam Festival, a serving Commissioner of Police, the Sapayee of Gbaygi in Abuja, Mr. Ibu, President of Actors Guild of Nigeria; Chief Emeka Rollas among others.

The Imo born Youth leader, who attended the occasion along with his northern colleague, Mallam Shamsudeen Haruna, the CYMS’s Director, Planning & Strategy expressed gratitude for inviting him to witness an event not just set aside to display the cultural heritage of great Ibos but an avenue to recognise some people across the board, according to the northern guest, “am impressed with what am seeing, this is lovely, Igbos are vast, rich and creative”.

The Chieftaincy coronations which were performed shortly after the presentation of the new yam was done according to the culture and tradition of the Ibos forefathers.

When contacted by the newsmen, “the CYMS DG, described Chief Francis Duru as a role model to the teeming young Nigerians and epitome of leadership whose character is indeed worthy of emulation.

“Nwaka went further by adjudging the conferment as a well deserved one, that the recipient is a special human who has calved a niche for himself in the industry by promoting good moral values, impacting positive great sense of reasoning and support towards the youth development which earned him his long time prestigious Award as an Ambassador of Peace by the United Nations in 2007.”

The CYMS’s Director-General, Mr. Obinna Nwaka said he is optimistic that the conferment on him is just a testament of his innovation and creativity in the industry since 1995 he acted in the popular movie called ”Rattle Snake”, a good ambassador and an illustrious son of Imo State who has remained resolute and committed to his clean career despite some social challenges confronting celebrities.
