The Good News Club Philippian Mission on the 18th December, 2021 took sensitization on female genital mutilation to the town hall of the Iyin community, opposite the oluyin’s palace, Ekiti State.

Barrister Atane Edabo sharrley, a representative from the Ministry of Justice and Special Assistant Gender & Vulnerable persons, office of the Attorney-General of Ekiti,
urged the children to speak up at any sign of violence.

She enlightened the children on how to keep themselves safe from sexual assault.

Aderomose Lois Tofunmi the founder and author of the book Tolani ni rara and State Coordinator, Ekiti State SGBV Rapid Response (Ekiti SGBVRR) spoke on the need to say “NO to violence and violation”.

She stated that people will hate you for saying No but in the end, you will be happy you did.

She further enlightened the kids/teenagers on female genital mutilation and its consequences to the girl child.

Nifemi oluwole a volunteer at the organisation, spoke on sexual and gender-based violence and its effects on kids/teenagers.

Rev Tony Aderomose gave a vote of thanks urging the mission to ensure sustainability.
