It is relevant to note that no nation has been able to grow to achieve its potentials without an efficient and effective transportation system in place

The Honourable Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, made this disclosure on Thursday in Radio House Abuja during a ministerial press briefing on the programmes, policies, projects and initiatives of the Federal Ministry of Transportation and its agencies for 2021.

Ameachi said the development and sustainability of other sectors of the economy lies heavily on efficient transportation infrastructure.

“It is the realisation of this that the Federal Government made transportation infrastructure a priority both in its economic recovery and growth plan and the current medium term national development plan.

In his words,
“the federal ministry of transportation is committed to ensuring that the nation has a vibrant, responsive, efficient and effective transport system capable of adequately meeting the needs of a modern, industrial and vibrant economy.

“The ministry’s core mandate include provision and administration of rail and marine transport infrastructure, road transport and mass transit administration as well as intermodal coordination of all transportation modes in the country.

“The government has made giant strides in bridging the infrastructural deficit in the transportation sector and will do more especially in human capacity development for sustainability, he disclosed

He said, in a bid to ensure safe, secure, reliable, efficient, affordable, intermodal and environmentally sustainable road transport for all, the ministry embarked on developing a National Road Transport Policy

The Honorable Minister appreciated Mr President for his unrelenting commitment to the nation, he commended the honourable minister of information and culture Alh. Lai Muhammad. He also acknowledged the efforts of the Honourable Minister of State of Transportation, Distinguished Senator Gbemisola Saraki and the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani for unwavering cooperation and loyalty. I appreciate the efforts of all our Departments and Agencies for their remarkable contributions towards the Ministry’s achievement this past fiscal year.

Also, Distinguished Senator Gbemisola Saraki said Today’s briefing is an important part of reaching our goals, without the public awareness, our objectives will be more difficult to implement.

Distinguished Gbemisola stated the importance of Transportation system and as such, the responsibility within the ministry and its agencies to deliver an economically viable, sustainable and accessible transportation system to all Nigerians cannot be overstated.

Also speaking, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, commended the achievements of the ministry, saying that it remained focused on delivering its projects and so far, It is through the Ministry of Transportation that we are very confident this administration will leave a massive legacy.
