The world celebrates International Youth Day as an awareness day on August 12th every year.
In commemoration of this year’s celebration, the Director General, Coalition of Nigeria Youth on Security and Safety Affairs (CONYSSA), Amb. Ade Mario Emmanuel has called on the Nigerian youth to be security conscious as the election draws closer.
This he made known in a statement signed by the Coalition Media Director, Maryam Makolo, and made available to journalists at the early hours of today, 12th August 2022.
According to the statement, Amb. Emmanuel Mario explained that the power and potential of young people worldwide need to be harnessed, pointing out that the only way it could, is to have a safe nation for development to strive in all spheres of human endeavor.
Mario added that Youth is the trustee of prosperity in any given nation adding that the world celebrates International Youth Day to avail the youths to discuss issues that harps on their growth and to proffer solutions to curb the challenges.
“The purpose of this day is to raise voices against any injustice or discrimination happening in the world against the youth as they are most important in nation building”.
Reacting to this year’s theme, “Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages”, he said that this year’s theme is an important one, as it highlights that children don’t grow up in isolation. They are deeply embedded with their peers, their communities, and their families.
Mario called on the general public, particularly parents, teachers, community leaders, religious leaders, politicians, and governments not to shy away from their responsibilities in inculcating in them good moral and social behavior.
He urged youth to embrace peace and work hard for the betterment of the nation
